This website is funded with Drug Free Community Grant funds.

Since 2022, West Spokane Wellness Partnership with partners have taken back over 356 pounds of medication to be safely disposed of during annual medication take back days. Medications include prescription medications, over-the-counter medicine, pet medicine, vitamins, and more! In doing so, we are working to keep our environment safe (soil and water), reduce crime, and reduce accidental and intentional medication poisonings in the community.

Our Mission

Break down barriers and strengthen community connections, improving access to prevention services and protective resources to reduce substance misuse and abuse in the West Central Spokane area.

Our Vison

A healthy, empowered West Spokane where every individual—youth and adult alike—has the opportunity to thrive in a connected, resilient, and substance-free community.

What is a CPWI Community Coalition?

The Community Prevention and Wellness Initiative (CPWI) is a strategic, data-driven framework supported by the Washington State Health Care Authority. CPWI community coalitions bring together local partners—including schools, law enforcement, healthcare providers, parents, youth, and faith leaders—to prevent youth substance use and promote mental health and well-being. These coalitions, including West Spokane Wellness Partnership, are rooted in evidence-based practices, local data, and community voice to drive lasting, positive change.

About the West Spokane Wellness Partnership

The West Spokane Wellness Partnership (WSWP) is a Community Prevention and Wellness Initiative (CPWI) and Drug-Free Communities (DFC) coalition, now in its 14th year of service to the neighborhoods of West Spokane. WSWP works collaboratively to reduce youth substance use, promote mental health, and strengthen protective factors through inclusive, culturally responsive prevention strategies. Guided by local stakeholders and community advocates, the coalition supports a range of initiatives including school-based social-emotional learning curricula, peer support groups, and a full-time Student Assistance Professional (SAP) at Glover Middle School who delivers direct services for youth affected by substance misuse. WSWP also provides medication lock boxes, Narcan trainings and kits, after-school programming, and a variety of parent, caregiver, and family-focused programs. Together, we are building a healthier, safer future for West Spokane.
